Diwali corporate gifting: the 2026 planning timeline

Diwali 2026 falls on Sunday 8 November, with the five-day festival running 6–10 November. Working backwards from that date is the single most useful thing you can do for a corporate gifting programme.

Short answer

Diwali 2026 is Sunday 8 November. To have kits in hand before the festival, brief your vendor by mid-September at the latest — and by late August if you want custom packaging or are shipping to individual home addresses.

  • Custom packaging or personalisation: brief by late August
  • Standard kits, single office: brief by mid to late September
  • Multi-address home delivery: add two weeks to whichever applies
  • After mid-October, expect limited choice and rush pricing

Diwali is the largest corporate gifting occasion in India, which means every supplier in the country is running the same production calendar at the same time. The constraint is rarely your budget or your decision-making. It is that raw materials, printing slots and courier capacity all get consumed by whoever booked first.

Today is 1 August 2026, which puts Diwali roughly fourteen weeks away. If you are reading this now, you are comfortably early — which means you can still have custom packaging, a proper sampling round, and calm delivery windows.

What slips when you start late

Six weeks out

Custom packaging becomes difficult. You move to stock boxes with printed sleeves. Contents narrow to what suppliers already hold. Still a good gift, fewer choices.

Four weeks out

Personalisation beyond a logo is mostly off the table. Individual name printing, custom inserts and bespoke colourways need lead time you no longer have. Home-address delivery becomes risky.

Two weeks out

You are buying whatever is in stock and paying rush rates on production and freight. Courier networks are at peak load and delivery dates stop being predictable. This is when gifts arrive after the festival — the one outcome worth spending real effort to avoid.

The part that is your job, not the vendor’s

Two things consistently delay corporate gifting projects, and neither is under a supplier’s control.

Budgeting for Diwali specifically

Festive hampers run ₹500–5,000 per kit depending on contents and packaging. For mixed programmes — all-staff plus clients — splitting the budget by relationship works better than spending evenly.

AudienceTypical per kitNote
All employees₹500 – 1,500Coordinated hamper, logo branding, standard or printed box
High performers₹1,500 – 3,000Richer contents, better packaging, personalised card
Clients and VIPs₹3,000 – 10,500Luxury tier, fully custom packaging, lower quantity

Freight is charged on actuals and rises sharply in the fortnight before Diwali. If your programme involves home delivery across many pincodes, get that quoted against your real address split rather than an estimate.

Common questions

When is Diwali in 2026?

Diwali 2026 falls on Sunday 8 November. The five-day festival runs from Dhanteras on 6 November to Bhai Dooj on 10 November, with Lakshmi Puja on the main day, 8 November.

When should we start planning Diwali corporate gifts?

Brief your vendor by late August or early September if you want custom packaging, personalisation, or delivery to individual home addresses. Mid-September is the last comfortable window for standard kits to a single office. After mid-October you are limited to available stock at rush rates.

How long does Diwali gift production take?

Allow roughly three to five weeks for sourcing, branding, kitting and packing once design and quantity are confirmed, plus one to two weeks for dispatch and delivery. Multi-pincode and home-address delivery needs the full two weeks.

Can you still deliver if we order a few weeks before Diwali?

Often yes, but with real constraints: ready-stock kits rather than bespoke ones, product-level branding rather than custom packaging, and less predictable delivery dates as courier networks hit peak load. Earlier is materially better.

What is a reasonable Diwali gift budget per employee?

Most companies spend ₹500–1,500 per employee on festive hampers, stepping up to ₹1,500–3,000 for high performers and ₹3,000–10,500 for clients and leadership. Freight and GST are additional.

Can gifts be shipped to employees’ home addresses for Diwali?

Yes, from a minimum of 100 kits we split shipments across multiple addresses, including individual homes for remote teams. Build in an extra two weeks and start collecting addresses as soon as quantity is confirmed.

Fourteen weeks to Diwali.

Brief us now and you still have every option open — custom packaging, personalisation and calm delivery windows.
